In the sixty's the cry was do your own thing. If it feels good, do it.
I was in the service in the sixty's, and was stationed in San Francisco.
Height-Ashbury was cool place to be if you were a hippy. There was Strawberry Park
where they all hung out, smoked weed and did their little twirls and dances.
I was ok with that, I was only 22, 23 years old, smoked a few myself.

God had been taken out of the class room by the courts because of a lawsuit by an old, ugly lady, Madelyn Murray O'hare.

I grew up, but, a lot of those hippies didn't. They just shaved, got a haircut, put on
a suit, and became professors who pushed their radical beliefs on their students.The outside changed, but, the inside stayed the same.


They were radical in the sixties, but, not dangerous, because they didn't have any power.
Now, they do....

They were the originators of anything goes, no standards but their own.

When, you buy a car (if you trust the car makers to stay in business long enough),
you are given a owners manual that tells you what the car can do, all the equipment
that it has, how often you need to service it, warranties etc. If you don't use
the recommended oil, have the oil changed regularly, or numerous other things
that are listed in the manual, the warranty is voided.

Usually, it is understood that you won't intentionely misuse the car.
It operates best when driven on a paved highway, street, road.

Now, you can drive it out into a pasture with all the stumps, brush, and pot holes that
are usually present.
It could, and probably would damage your car.

You could say, "Well, it's my car, and I'll drive it anywhere I want to."
But, in the end, it will be a wreck before it should be.

There are reasons that there are instructions for cars and for lives.
It is not to control you, but to help you function better in this world.
"I don't need no stinkin' rules!" someone might say.
"I'll make my own rules".

How well did that work for you when you were a child?
A loving parent knows that a child needs guidelines. Not because the parent
wanted the child to know who was boss, but, because the parent loves the
child. The parent knows the pitfalls and dangers of letting a child wander outside alone.

God doesn't tell us to behave a certain way because He's mean, or wants to let us
know who's the real boss around here.
He knows how much you will be hurt if you make a bad decision.
So, He gave us some guidelines in the Bible. "Do this, and all will be well..don't, and
trouble will happen"
A good book in the Bible to read is Proverbs. Full of wisdom.

If you don't really believe that the Bible was inspired by God, just read because
it has some really good advice.

Maybe your warranty won't be voided at the end of the day...

I find the scriptures intensely liberating. I ain't bound by hippy mores any more than 'christian' ones - there again I ain't a christian anyway since there's nothing in the scriptures to justify christianity (or any religion) beyond the religious additions inserted by various propagandist religios.

Mr. Peabody should we set the "way-back" machine for 1975? I think Clean Sword is lost and wants to come back to our time.

Maybe MMO had discovered the tribal god of Israel was nothing more than an invented tribal god of ancient Hebrew myths?

It's hard to take someone seriously who rejects the Bible as a fantasy, but, continues to
use it to prove their point.

Isn't that a contradictory excuse for not knowing your scriptures? Why should anyone take you seriously considering that you worship an invisible god constructed from heresy? I'd rather worship Obama if I made a choice. Obama produces results, makes changes, and hopefully will put the biggest liberal thinker of all time on the supreme court.

I think MMO's anger came from the abusive far Right Jerry Falwell and his haters of humanity. You know, the Far Right who took over the GOP, started a needless war, supports torture of foreign and domestic "suspects", and believe they have a right to do as they please, like seceding from the union, not paying taxes, hanging people in trees, all to support their "family values".

How many of the Far Right do you think fried their brains on drugs in the 1960's? How many of them do you think have children somewhere they don't even know about? How many of them condemned to hell innocent children such as Ryan White who contracted the AIDS virus? While their own children were boozing it up and knocking-up teenage Christian girls who then went to another state from their hometown to get an abortion? Or else those of the Religious Right who were wealthy enough just paid their family doctors to do the abortive procedure under cover of a bad cold? And how many of them stand in church on Sundays praising their Jesus with innocent blood from the Iraqi war on their hands? MMO knew these hypocrits well. They are as their bible says, "full of dead men's bones".

Yes, Obama has produced results, and made changes...and, in about three to four
years you will see how much those changes are going cost our children and
grandchildren.

Liberals don't think, they follow the Obamanation sheep herder.
