I truly loathe the guy. Cannot stand to even hear him speak. Dunno why, it's visceral. I was at a friend's when his Cairo preach was shown, I had to leave the house till he finished his finger wagging.

All that ,"Let's make a new start" with the Muslims reaked of desperation. Dubya messed up and it seemed a last ditch attempt to regain some influence with the Islamic world.

Still, we'll all find out in due time.

What choice does he have?

It's either make a new start or continue the strategy of killing all the Muslims......(a strategy with flaws).

The current explosion of political turmoil in Iran demonstrates that his speech had a huge impact.

He's not perfect, but he's a big improvement.

As you say, we shall see if any actual progress can come from all this......but his choices are quite restricted.

There's a great pic of B.O. with his shoes on the desk (allegedly) speaking to Netanyahu (it was on drudgereport yesterday) . The semiology of the pic is intricate - a bit like those old masters full of symbology. He is telling the muslim world exactly what he thinks of Israel.

Well worth a delve to find.

I only wish the Jews were not so powerful.

He simply can't openly express his contempt for them because no American politician can be elected without the support of the Jews.

He must find a way to force them to turn over ALL their settlements in Palestine to the Palestinians.

Since they refuse to do it voluntarily, the only way is to cut off all support to the Zionists of Occupied Palestine and let nature take its course.

But he can't do that until after he's re-elected.

So it goes.

I hope you are noticing that Obama's speech to Muslims has caused a sea change in the politics of Iran. One little speech and he turned Iran around.

That's a huge move toward peace.

Soon people will begin to see that the real problem is the Zionists.......THEY are the root cause of most of the troubles we have today......including the current economic recession.

Logos ... could you tease out a little why you made the comment that the Zionists are the root cause of the present recession? (And what is your definition when you use the word Zionists?) This interests me because I have a few theories, myself, and wonder how right I might be.

Oh, it's nothing deep or complex, really.

It's just that Bush destroyed the American economy (and severly wounded an innocent bystander, the world economy) by going on a killing rampage against Muslims.

So, our children and grandchildren will be paying with a reduced standard of living.

Bush's offspring, of course, will be rich and won't give a damn.

There will never be peace in the world until the Zionists are brought under control.

Although Obama's speech almost defeated the destructive incumbent government of Iran.......who profits from the victory of Ahmadinejad?

Progress in Iran would set a standard of moving toward peace and cooperation.

That would force the Zionists toward being more peaceful and cooperative......to move out of the settlements in the occupied territories as Obama wants them to do.

Here is the odd contradiction.......Peace works against the Zionists.

And more war profits and prospers them.
