Hasn't Specter been pretty much voting democtrat for years anyway? I mean, I appreciate the "moral" victory (yes, I voted for Obama and am still happy about it), but it seems kind of funny in a way.
It reminds me of a skit that the Rock did on SNL years ago where he was Superman, but didn't hide his identity well (see-through shirt, disappearing everytime danger happened, etc.), and it was the big office joke that EVERYONE knew he was Superman...
Anyway, good for the Dems, but come on...he was already one...

I think it's good news IF he really agrees with the dems...he is up for reelection and it could just be a ploy since he knows repugnuts will have a hard time getting reelected...this very thing is why the repugs fought so hard against Franken being elected and seated.

Specter said his move was purely political. He wants to add a few more years to his senatorial belt and he sees the democratic party as his ace to play. He said he voted against Republican ideas more than once and if he doesn't like Democrat ideas he'll vote against those to.

Not sure his flip-flopping will win him votes next time around. He seems to have made a lot of voters angry on both sides. It's reported that Obama and Biden will campaign for him.

Specter should write a new book - "Survivng Politics: How I escaped the the GOP (Religious Right) "
