Those of you who've been around here for a spell may recall my time studying Eisenman's "James the Brother of Jesus" tome. It is an engrossing read for those with the hermit's stamina and attention span :-)

However, I came across Eisenman giving a lecture to some characters into some weird cult (Ramtha?) - you can ignore the culty folks - there are 24 youtube videos - 2 hours plus of really interesting stuff.

start here:

and off you go. Eisenman is a good communicator (it's nice to know I'm not alone in that).

Yup - Eisenman has a genuine humility and sense of the freedom of academe. While he is no afficionado of Ramtha (me neither) he is respectful - and seems an all round good guy. I was a mite worried that he might priove to be some bigotted idiot. No need.

In "The Brother of Jesus" he deals with Saul/Paul's "Damascus Road moment" in a rather implausible way - it's a shame he was not apprised of the Euripides plagiarism.

I'm gonna reread the tome. I just hope that my brain doesn't explode like it did last time. He packs so much info into every sentence. I do agree with his theory, as much of it that I know. It makes sense out of a lot of things and I compare other scholar's renditions to James bro o' Jesus all the time.
